What Is The Difference Between Cold Rolled Sheet And Galvanized Sheet?

Three differences: different physical properties, galvanized sheets have good corrosion resistance, and cold-rolled sheets have high hardness.
The materials are different. The galvanized sheet material is hot-dip galvanized steel sheet, and the cold-rolled sheet material is stamping-grade cold-rolled sheet.
The process is different. Galvanized sheets are alloy products made through the galvanizing process. Cold-rolled sheets do not need to be heated during production, and the surface gloss is better.

Galvanized sheets and cold-rolled sheets are relatively common sheets and are widely used, especially in the construction industry, where their usage rate is higher.

1. What are the differences between galvanized sheets and cold rolled sheets?

1. Different physical properties

Galvanized sheets have good corrosion resistance and are easy to construct, while cold-rolled sheets have high hardness and a very smooth surface.

2. Different materials

The main materials of galvanized sheets are hot-dip galvanized steel sheets and electro-galvanized steel sheets, while the main materials of cold-rolled sheets are stamping-grade cold-rolled sheets.

3. Different processes

Galvanized sheet is an alloy product made by plating a layer of zinc on the surface of the steel sheet through the galvanizing process, while cold-rolled sheet does not require heating during production and has a better surface gloss.

What is cold rolled plate?
Cold rolled plate generally refers to a process where heating is not performed before starting rolling. However, due to the relatively small thickness of rolled plates, a large number of plate bends or cracks will occur during handling and use. Many manufacturers now want to control the size and accuracy of rolled plate and strip. Due to the long cold-rolled plate production line, many equipments and complex processes. However, current users have increasingly higher requirements for the dimensional accuracy of rolled strip steel, and they also have requirements for the shape and surface quality of steel plates.

The two types of rolled plates are easily distinguished. We can detect the difference by hand. The surface of cold rolled plate has a certain gloss. It feels smooth to the touch and feels a bit like the steel cups we often use to drink water from. But if the hot-rolled plate has not been pickled, the surface and feel of the hot-rolled plate are very similar to ordinary steel plates purchased on the market. If the surface is rusty, the surface color is red, if there is no rust, the surface color is purple-black.
